A collection of love letters from the Second World War have been discovered under the floorboards of a hotel in Scarborough almost 80 years after they were written.

The handwritten letters were found earlier this month at the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough, which is currently being renovated.

They were penned by an unknown couple, with the man writing: “Don’t ever forget that I love you more than anything else on earth.”
