So far; the year of 2020 has seen both highs and lows in just the first few months since the year started – from natural disasters, and even a pandemic. 2020 has also seen just how it brings out the worst traits in humans to date for the most part. We’ve seen some morons panic-buy to the point of not leaving enough for everyone else. We’ve also seen some of those same morons panic-buy AND sell what they’ve bought at outrageous prices that calling them highway robbery would be termed as “polite” as calling Adolf Hitler a teddy bear.

And yes, that analogy is very apt because there is ZERO scientific evidence that hoarding TP, paper towels, n95 masks, and gloves will help you stave off the inevitible. That same analogy is fit to describe certain companies and individuals profiteering from a pandemic.

On the flip side; we also have some companies AND individuals that show just how good humans can be in the face of adversity.

Here, we highlight one such individual.

Meet Allen Marshall -who ,hails from Detroit but now lives in St. Clair Shores – and he was planning to use the $900 he saved to buy a knife sharpening tool – but with the COVID-19 outbreak affecting the finances of so many people around the Detroit area, he decided to donate the money in a VERY unique way.

Since Wednesday, Marshall has been buying fuel for essential workers at the Exxon gas station on Mack Avenue and I-75, near Eastern Market. His wife is also an essential worker at Blue Cross Blue Shield nearby, so when he drops her off at work, he sets up at the gas station until she gets off.

He plans to continue his good deed on Thursday until the money runs out.

“With all that is going on with the coronavirus, I wanted to thank the essential workers the best way that I can,” said Marshall, holding a white sign that read “Free Gas For Nurses.” “I really don’t need that tool and thought this was a better way to spend the money. ,It takes a small gesture to show people that we care about them,” said Marshall. “The nurses and first responders need help as well during this time, and I’m doing my part in making sure they are taken care of.”

,So far, Marshall has bought gas for close to 25 people on Wednesday, ranging from $7 to $35 a car.

,People like him are the reason why there’s hope for humanity – not some idiotic government, or companies, or other certifiably crazy individuals that profit off of other’s suffering for their own benefit.

,Some heroes don’t wear capes – and that includes our brave doctors, nurses, and the people who support them.
