According to a report from Associated Press in Waterboro, Maine; deputies were responding to a report of a stolen vehicle in the Waterboro area early on Sunday morning and stopped a man walking nearby.
While not a suspect, they arrested the man anyway after running an ident check on him and it came up with an outstanding warrant for theft – possibly shoplifting – from Walmart, of all places.
When it came time to post bail after his arrest, the man had unfortunately forked over two counterfeit $100 bills when the bail commissioner arrived.
This led the police arresting him AGAIN as that bail was denied, and he was sent back to his cell.
He was fortunately able to post his $100 bail a second time later with real money, and his court day has been set for Aug. 4, 2021.
